Bill Withers passed away on March 30th, 2020 at the age 81 {heart failure}…
Between 1971 and 1985 the Slab Fork, West Virginia native had twenty three records on Billboard’s Hot Soul Singles chart, seven made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, “Lean On Me”, for one week in June of 1972…
Three of his twenty three charted records were duets, one each with Bobby Womack {“It’s All Over Now”, #68 in 1975}, Grover Washington, Jr., {“Just The Two of Us”, #3 in 1981} and Ralph McDonald {“In The Name of Love”, #13 in 1984}…
Besides “Lean On Me”, his six other Top 10 records were “Ain’t No Sunshine” {#6 in 1971}, “Use Me” {#2 in 1972}, “Make Love Your Thing” {#10 in 1975}, “Lovely Day” {#6 in 1977}, the above “Just The Two of Us”, and the above “In The Name of Love”…
    May he R.I.P.

Sad…. if you guys need some one to lean on then lean on Jesus ❤ I know the world is chaotic right now and a lot of people are scared and without hope .. but there’s hope in Jesus ❤ God can transform you into a new creature with his love. 2 Corinthians 5:17 therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold; all things are become new. If God can save a wretch like me then he can save u too! Accept Jesus as your savior today and be born again 💓he loves u so much!!!!!!

I’m in tears. RIP and fly high! You will be missed by the world and everyone will be calling you to lean on in prayers, especially during this pandemic. Such a sweet man and kind soul, even though I’m only 28 I’ve been listening to your music since I was 10. I loved every song. This breaks my heart. We love you!

    • Peter FromPort says:

Those are such lovely words Kels …Beautiful lyrics by someone who is so sentimental, passionate and humble. As a older person, I too, love this song as it expounds what is so important in life which is giving of oneself for whatever reason and thinking of others. Bill may have been a private man but he saw the virtues of sharing and the beauty that surrounds us that we sometimes choose not to see.

    • Kels Michelle says:

@Peter FromPort I absolutely agree! Also, I only speak the truth! 🥰

Your age means nothing dear. You recognize passion and beauty. That is what beautiful music does. It helps us transcend ideas and things that are greater than us. This about a message that is universal despite whatever you believe. That message is love.
