Do we need nuclear energy to stop climate change? More and more voices from science, environmental activists and the press have been saying so in recent years – but this comes as a shock to those who are fighting against nuclear energy and the problems that come with it. So who is right? Well – it is complicated.

@Kurzgesagt When you put your skillshare advert as the first line in the description, it gets included as the *only* descriptive text when people share your videos on other sites. This makes the whole video appear to be an advert and reduces the chance of people clicking on it. Please but a better description of the video above the ad!

This is one of your worst videos, clearly in this topic you know as much as a random internet guy who watch few videos about energy sources.
The things you completely ignored are HUGEE!!!!
-You ignored the incredible difference on how Solar and Wind power is growing and how fast their cost is being reduce without a close limit yet.
-You ignored the SUPER ROL OF HYDROGEN! In which it solves at the cheapest cost possible the intermitency issue of renewables and it can feed all the sectors who CAN NOT RUN ON ELECTRICITY, not now.. not ever!! (Which this is the path that all country powers in the world are taken, or what? you know something they dont?)
-You still ignore all the consequences of nuclear waste and how those could be also target by terrorist.
-You ignore the limit to how cheaper a nuclear plant can be, or even a fusion plant.. Because the cost to convert Thermal energy into electricity is HUGE, this mean that even if you have a reactor and fuel processing and wasting for free, they would be still be more expensive than current best PV locations today.
-You ignored the cost to transport energy.. in the form of hydrogen is 10 times cheaper than by wires!
Make a talk with me and we can do a collaboration explaining until the last detail all these points I am making. But it is a shame that doing that you would have to correct all the misinformation you have spread it on this one. Your proud as internet researches would be an issue? or the search of the truth is what it matters most?
Or.. I can make all the corrections on my webpage.

@AngelLestat2 so how much you know

    • AngelLestat2 says:

@Bin Huang test me.. choose one single point from there, the one that you think I am most wrong.. and lets see if that is true.

I have a profound respect for Kurzgesagt. They put an enormous amount of time into research and animating their videos, try to make scientific topics as simple to understand as possible, and treat their viewers with a lot of respect. The Earth mug I bought from them hasn’t had any paint come off even though I’ve been dishwashing it for a year, definitely not a cheap product. Of all the YouTube merch I’ve gotten, I think theirs is the highest quality (just barely beating out LTT). They could have just kept with patreon alone or gone with a cheaper producer, but they genuinely care. I’m happy that there are actually content producers who just want to educate the world and make the world better. As soon as I get a paycheck I am going to put a good amount of money into their patreon per month.

I love how Kurzgesagt went from drawing and animating simple birds to a team of renewable electricity power rangers.

  4. 초이도피르 says:

I always loved the way how the voice actor pronounces “electricity”. I don’t know, it’s just so satisfying. This video is a gift for me.

  5. Kyle Brown says:

“It’s complicated” should be Kurzgesagt’s catch phrase.

I am from india, and few years ago i went to my uncle’s home for a trip. He used to work at a nuclear factory. I could see nuclear factories from far away, it was fascinating 😃. Also, there was so much tight security
Also, we hired our school van driver to take us for the trip😂

    • Sayantan Bose says:

What the hell is a nuclear factory? 😂

    • Sayantan Bose says:

@Vipin I’m happy people are gradually realising that nuclear is the future. Nuclear fission is needed for 50 years, then we’ll move to fusion.

    • Scratchsoft says:

      @Sayantan Bose they create atoms

    • Vipin says:

@Scratchsoft no they don’t create atoms lol.. in a nuclear reactor a radioactive heavy element is bombarded by neutrons which results in less heavy elements and energy it’s nuclear fission(controlled)
to make the new atoms you need nuclear fusion which is not yet possible by artificial means only in the cores of stars..

    • Vipin says:

@Sayantan Bose off course there is no other means which provides the equivalent energy maybe in future humans will be able to achieve nuclear fusion.. that would be revolutionary

  7. Babak Sanaee says:

We NEED a shirt with the 4 renewable guys on it to be sold in your merch store. Basically the shot from ~7:50 please

  8. Orrin de Kock says:

i expect no less from the kurzgesagt team, but keeping facts and opinions separated and clearly delineated is absolutely crucial in discussions like these. massive props for doing it and doing it well

  9. Para says:

Can we just talk about how beautiful these animations are

  10. SeriousNorbo says:

Can’t wait for a movie about Capitan Nuclear, Wind Man, Super Solar and Water Woman fighting against evil Dr. Fossil Cloud.
