Love John Goodman
A great actor one of the most underrated in Hollywood
First time I’ve ever heard of him being “underrated”.
I said he was underrated as in quiet and shy, not out for the fame.
I can’t really recall any movie with him, aside from that blues-cops-movie that I think he starred in, but I never fully watched that because I think it sucks. I don’t want to say he isn’t a good actor, but I think he probably isn’t underrated. Edit: Oh shit, The Big Lebowski of course. But aside from that, his filmography reads like a list of trash movies. He seems like a very nice guy, but he probably is rated just fine if you think he is underrated.
+Moos P. Umm… Raising Arizona, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (Only Steve Buscemi has starred in more Coen Brothers films with 7 to Goodman’s 6). Plus you can’t just discount his voice over work for Disney and Pixar. He was the original voice of the Yellow M&M as well. He’s also got a large body of Theater work, and worked on various TV shows such as the West Wing, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip earning a 2007 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor – Drama Series for his performance. He also starred as Fred Flintstone in the TV movie of the series.
If you are unfamiliar with his work, that’s fine, but to say that he’s a crap actor or only acted in crappy films is misleading and disingenuous. He’s probably one of the hardest working actors in the business.
Plus he spent at nearly a decade starring in the weekly original hit TV series Roseanne (for which he won a Golden Globe Award, An American Comedy Award, A People’s Choice Award and A Viewer’s for Quality Television Award and was nominated for Awards just about every year the show ran.)
+Moos P. “He never got his picture on bubble gum cards, did he? Have you ever seen his picture on a bubble gum card? Hmmm? How can you say someone is great who’s never had his picture on bubble gum cards?”
Anyone else notice Stephen’s tie changed? Different day recording perhaps?
00:40 “Great music _Wednesday_ night!”
04:35 “I´m gonna get you a hat for CHRISTMAS”. 😉
They do two recordings on Thursday: one for thursday and one for friday. So, yeah, it’s possible that there could’ve been a wardrobe change.
Oogachaka is right. I was at a Thursday recording and he recorded the opening and a couple bits for Friday.
When he said “Go Saints” I thought this was recorded last week.
I expect he’s about to get a lot of hats.
I appreciate modesty in famous people. Good on ya John.
stfu, there’s some modesty for you.
Everyone gets stage fright on occasion even in the bedroom.
Well so I’ve been told ???
Donnie, you’re out of your element!
John was the best thing about that movie.
never gets old. ??
Shit he has lost a lot of weight
only fat americans would think he has lost too much weight. he is still fat, just not super morbidly obese anymore+Patrick
He said in a previous interview that it is because his wife got very sick during the samw time that Roseanne got cancelled.
That’s Hollywood my friend! They choose for you if you want the role. ?
dombower wow, that’s incredibly rude. Let me guess, you’re from one of the 2nd or 3rd fattest countries
He quit drinking, got his act together. Thank God! Want him around for a long time. Great actor and human.
Goodman’s adorable, all ❤️
John looks good!
This is how Robert Mueller dresses when he’s off-duty.
He’s going to play Mueller in the movie “Russian Agent President” or “Trump’s Treason”….still working on the title
Present day John Goodman would make a great Mueller. We need to wrap up the impeachment so we can start shooting.
John looked so much more relaxed on Seth’s show. He seems troubled here.
I think that’s because Seth is quite a natural interviewer who accommodates the guest. I really like Colbert, but his interviewing skills are not fantastic, you’re always very aware of his question’s intent.
Goodman is quick witted here but Colbert misses the timing unfortunately.
It’s so rare that i like the celebrity more after watching one of these… john Goodman ?
Wow. ? He really _has_ lost a lot of weight.
John Goodman is a very talented actor, rather understated and quiet. That being said, he deserves every Lifetime Achievement Award he’s given. He can sing, dance and act. Not many people can fill in for John Belushi as a “Blues Brother”.
Indeed, John is good man.
I could see John Goodman looks like Robert Mueller. Maybe he’ll play him in the upcoming movie. #TraitorInTheWhiteHouse
I love his work thoroughly, but is it just me or is John Goodman looking a bit sad? I remember him much more jolly before,..
Thanks for this interview. I absolutely love John Goodman.
I’m blown away with how John has turned around his health. He must have lost well over 100 lbs and kept it off, and I bet his entire health profile has changed dramatically. It’s inspiring to see how easily he’s able to walk and move in his body now. And anyone who has that kind of weight to lose, never mind even coming close to doing so and then keeping it off, KNOWS that it’s not just calories in calories out. You gotta do soul work to get there and a hell of a lot more to stay there. Damn bro, what an accomplishment. Congrats.
