Disney: I make the best villain songs ever.
    Rebecca Sugar: hold my ukulele…

“She can’t be serious” that line has so much more meaning now

  3. Ana May says:

Pink is basically the true villlan of the series. I love how SU gives us both sides of characters

    • coolcrazy jay 57432 says:

Ikr she’s always making Steven finish what she started

    • Kayden 21 says:

PK Master I mean you can say that but starting a rebellion to free thousands of gems from home worlds tyranny is pretty good

    • muntu1221 says:

@Kayden 21 Except the part where she doesn’t save them, and also leaves all the rest to not only fend for themselves in worse conditions, but living with the grief of their purpose basically not existing anymore. Most of her gems, as far as can be told, had somewhat of an existential crisis when she “died”, and they went on believing they had no purpose and were just bounced around between diamonds.

    • Taso Canido says:

I mean, if you wanna look at this story as if it CAN have a villain, yeah. Though that’s kind of missing the point. Every single character in the show has badly hurt someone at some point. Everybody does stupid things. Everyone is capable of terrible, terrible mistakes. Not all of them are justifiable, but if the world was so simple that someone can just be labeled a “villain” and have that be the end of it, then that’s the end of that story; there’s nothing left to say or do once all the “villains” are “gone”. “Steven Universe” doesn’t do that, though. It crafts a setting where the protagonist is trying his damnedest to make it so everyone has a place in his universe. It’s hard and the same methods don’t work on everybody, but if it ever came to a point where the only solution left was to get rid of someone, then the entire point of the show would be undermined.

Pink was a diamond. At the time, diamonds were believed to be perfect beings. But holding someone to the standard of “perfect” just serves to put a highlight on their flaws. Pink was flawed, but demonizing her for those flaws doesn’t help anything. For one thing, she’s gone. She can’t get better or hurt anyone anymore. For another, she wasn’t JUST her flaws. She made an active effort to learn from her mistakes and become more than what she was; culminating in the creation of Steven: an organic life form made from a gem (which, are made by sacrificing organic life).

So if you’re of the mindset that every story MUST have a villain, then yeah: Pink probably best qualifies.

    • Detective Biscuit says:

Pink is the severus snape of steven universe

  4. MangoBroadcast says:

Her cartoon-ish rubberhose style is incredible! Electro swing is the perfect style of music for this character!

  5. Myuni says:

Instantly made me love her, no matter what horrible thing she did

  6. Michelle Osorio says:

Loved this song so much! Already working on a cover of it and Spinel’s voice is so awesome. She really seems designed like old 40s cartoons like Mickey Mouse and Looney Tunes.

    • Danny the Mysterious says:

I’m pretty sure she is. In one scene she did a call out to mickey mouse. When she did that fishing hook thing she acted like mickey mouse

    • Bboops23 says:

Look at the Fleischer style of animation. She is a mix of that style and Mickey Mouse. Think characters like Betty Boop and Felix the cat.

  7. ExcogitateNotInvalidate says:

I absolutely love that “lives on the line, winner takes all” part, that was wayyyy too hype

  8. madhockey6 says:

Other tv films: yeah we can make a movie but we’ll put in a forgettable and cliche villain
Steven universe movie: makes a memorable villain with a kickass, catchy song and whom you feel sympathy for

  9. evaporated wig says:

Spinel didn’t have to go this hard, this is probably one of the best songs from the movie

  10. Natanimations says:

Spinel: i heard it over, and, over again!

    me: i heard this song over,and,over again! ;-;

  11. RikuSayPOOF says:

    -Rubber Hose-like
    -Amazing voice
    -Electro Swing music
    -Animations fitting to the music
    Best SU villain

  12. Daniel Haugan says:

Friend: Have you heard the new villain song? It’s so-
Me: Yeah yeah yeah I’ve HEARD. I’ve been listening to the song…
    ON LOOP!

  13. Boedinator says:

Blue Diamond: “You’ll never know what I went through, how I mourned, what suffering I endured”

    Lapis: “I’ve felt worse”

    Spinel: “Hold my injector”

  14. Keith Price says:

Spinel straight bodied and blitzed the Crystal Gems in that beginning sequence. I was shook af.

    • Laura Lomeli says:

@Inferal GhoulYT They didn’t really give it to her tho. Who knows where she got her weapons from

    • Fagulous Bitch says:

@Inferal GhoulYT that wasnt her weapon. That was a rejuvenator. Bismuth explains that the diamonds used those things to reset wayward gems. Dont ask me where she got it from though, i dont know how she got her hands on such a powerful weapon. What if someone used it on the diamonds, their development will be completely erased

    • Gum Skyloard says:

@Laura Lomeli She probably just stole it.

    • Eternal KHFan says:

Well, the Rejuvenator that Spinel had was pink, so…

I mean, consider this: as bratty as she was, Pink Diamond was still, well, _Diamond._ I wouldn’t be surprised if each Diamond had their own Rejuvenators(with their own colours, of course) and Spinel was aware of Pink’s because she told Spinel(most likely by accident, due Pink being… you know, _Pink_ ).

Of course, this is just my headcanon, but it’s not really that unbelieavable, right?

  15. Youreverydaymemerm8 says:

    I have two weaknesses….

Electro swing and rubber hose done AMAZINGLY

This movie has gone above and beyond both and i hate love them for it

  16. Rufino Morales says:

Song writers: how many songs do you want in your movie?

    Rebecca Sugar: Yes

    • ReasyRandom says:

The one time where I’m okay with more than 6 songs in a musical.

    • ReeceMB says:

@ReasyRandom um.. I don’t know if you know this…but usually there are about 20 songs in a musical

Because it’s a musical? They sing, that’s all they do. Musical movies aren’t really like musicals tbh

    • ReasyRandom says:

@ReeceMB First time I’ve seen this done in a musical movie.
Live musicals are a different thing altogether.

    • jen stoops says:

I counted, and this movie has about sixteen songs throughout its runtime. So it’s sort of in the middle.

    • ReeceMB says:

Also Rebecca sugar actually wrote most of these songs and probably played a part in all of them, she usually creates all the music and is a musician

  17. ChesSkelington says:

This is one HELL of a bop of a villain introduction song. Flairing both her motives and reflecting the insperations of her design. Nuf said i got this looping.

  18. HamPrince says:

” She TOOK YOU WITH HER. Isn’t that SWELL?!”

It makes sense now, with PD taking her Pearl to Earth but not Spinel? She would definitely be pissed at that fact.

Also funny. She left her because Spinel was childish and playful, her main function, to be more mature. But when she left for earth and finally have a colony, she got bored with it and wanted to “have fun” by being with the Quartz soldiers.

    Yes. Isn’t that just peachy?

  19. envykiing. says:

    anyone ever: *loves pink diamond*
    pink: “aight, imma head out”

  20. illumina TEA says:

The reason Spinel was evil was because her gem got set to Wumbo
