I’m impressed how GPT-4 can read doctor’s handwriting. It’s amazing! Congrats!!!

  2. Zerahu says:

The tax calculation and accuracy was really impressive. Wild it seems to do rather accurate math. Will be cool to see people challenge gpt4 to chess as well!

    • Many Wayz says:

@E3 well once you look into the technology you will see it’s all programmed. It’s not pulling shit out of thin air. It needs input into the functions in order to have an output

    • Okay says:

@Surferboy It may have already learned the pattern of addition, so it can solve addition it hasn’t seen yet correctly. “Generalization” is a major issue that is actively dealt with in the process of training AI, so I think it being to solve any addition correctly by seeing just(!) 100000 of them wouldn’t be a huge deal.

    • E3 says:

I wonder if it will teleport pieces out of thin air or if they trained it to follow the rules.

    • Many Wayz says:

There are videos. And it cheats. Lmao. No but there are videos lol

    • Zerahu says:

@Surferboy I think it’s also memorized the process of doing advanced calculation, especially seeing as it got the tax calculation right, it seems rather advanced

  3. Daniel C says:

Massive congratulations to the whole ClosedAI team!

    • Hyper Night says:

Open source means that everyone can use the code, if only microsoft steals everything its not open anymore, closedAI is a good renaming

    • Dominik Otočan says:

@Peter Marreck service can be both paid and open source at the same time, those two things are not mutually exclusive. There are several services which are free if you self-host, but you can pay for hosting on their cloud, for support etc.

    • Peter Marreck says:

Unfortunately, the fine tuning and hosting and hardware and electricity and serving are not free. They actually changed to a “capped-profit” business model in order to incentivize investment, from a not-for-profit org; hopefully they will release the model weights one day… one good way to do it IMHO would be to keep a 1 year lead and release anything as open source which is a year old or more

      God loves irony

  4. Vik says:

I’m at a loss of words to describe how happy this Livestream made me. So grateful to be alive right now. Thank you for your work OpenAI!
By the way, you have a beautiful room, looks really natural and harmonious:)

  5. Steven Kitterman says:

I’m really impressed, both by the technology and also by the presentation. Greg did a great job of showcasing the tech but also mentioning limitations. The demo felt real, and not just a marketing pitch.

  6. Big Papa Kewl says:

The “hand note to finished concept” demo has me staring at a pile of yellow, pink and green sticky notes, that have accumulated in the bottom lefthand drawer of my desk, realizing that I have been preparing for this moment for the past 12 years.

  7. Razcsi says:

Where the GPT-4 built the website based on the “concept” from the paper was literally mindblowing

  8. John Galactus says:

Wow, just wow. This is massive. Huge thanks to the OpenAI team!

  9. David Gitonga says:

What the model is capable of is mindblowing! Just yesterday, I took 40 minutes to fine-tune an article. This morning, it took 2 minutes. GPT4!

  10. Mehmet Fatih ERDEM says:

Every improvements in AI make you get into the loop of being excited and terrified 😅 With language models getting better and better at reasoning, I don’t even know what are we supposed to work on for the future. It seems like even if I start to spend all my time on learning the secrets of the universe, AI will improve so fast that it is going to make me obsolete as a Universe Secret Research Scientist by the time I get my PhD 😂
