Gigantamax Pokémon BATTLE ROYALE Explained! 💥 Gnoggin X @TerminalMontage
Woah! TerminalMontage released the Gigantamax Pokemon Battle Royale video! Something About that seems familiar… oh right we helped write it. In this video, I’m going to sort of explain what happens as well as quote the Pokedex a lot, and tell you our thought process behind certain things occurring. A lot of it makes sense, some of it doesn’t, and that’s what I love about this.

Gnoggin, hosted by its creator Lockstin, is a show delving into the mysteries of Pokemon! (and other games sometimes too). Explaining everything there is to explain! Why is each Pokemon given the type it has? What are their origins? What is the lore of the Pokemon world and the design inspirations? And what does it all have to do with alchemy? Let’s Go find out!
Hey! hope you watched this first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvaLHbLTWuI
It ‘s always WAY cool to work with @TerminalMontage and you should watch everything he and his team do. 🙂
Btw, be aware (careful) for there will be DC fans out there ripping you a new one for saying “Dr. Freeze.” 😅
Love this. Also urshifu… Isint he a bear?
Soo… that post credits scene tho
Really, I thought that the quote “what killed the dinosaurs , the ice age” was from power rangers dino charge, well at least that’s where I first heard it
Resonance blocks rapid flow but not surging strikes. So resonance is still active(also coal is a better GMAX mon)
Snorlax trying to eat out alcremie is not something i expected to hear today
LOL I had to replay it to make sure I heard it and to admire his control — not even a little smile. And it wasn’t just eat her out… but eat her out of existence. What a way to go!
@Tony Lone Fight I was looking for this comment xD wouldn’t want to cause redundancy in the comment section xD
Curious how long it’ll take e6 to have this now, if it doesn’t already.
If you know, you know.
Well… it IS a giant cake… and only female… double joke I guess?
I didn’t know Snorlax could beat Batman, but here we are
You always do such great writing for these. Seeing the first one on TerminalMontage was the thing that got me into your channel in the first place. I sure love to see the crazy lore/Pokedex analyses
Same
Same
Imagine this entire match happening in 3 turns before Dynamax runs out
That’s cus of the power band pretty sure. For example raid den Pokémon never shrink, a dynamax shrink has only occurred when a band is used.
@Cabbage Central the band is used to control the energy temporarily
@Rafael dos Santos Costa technically Eternamax should be doing the opposite
Same logic as having Mewtwo switching Mega forms I guess. So that it’s entertaining to watch.
@Cabbage Central well in that case, you could say it only lasts 10 turns. The Eternatus could be giving the energy, but it was only because of those Dynamax Stones. The Dens are the main place where those stones were found and even then battles only lasted 10 turns. So if anything, that’s the maximum amount of turns it should’ve lasted. I can understand that the time afterward the Pokemon stays Dynamaxed in the den is indefinite, but because it’s indefinite is the sole reason to have it max out at 10 turns.
So one point you actually get very wrong is the Urshifu breakdown. Despite the 4x weakness to fairy, Ursifu -S is the most powerful and most used between the two. If you go to Pikalytics Dark type Urshifu is used the second most behind Incineroar and has the highest win rate out of every Pokemon in 2021. Dark type are more useful in regards to not being able to be targeted by prankster moves which is huge because a lot of popular doubles mons like tornados, whimsicott, and grimsnarl cannot touch you with status moves. Also the immunities and weaknesses for both are actually irrelevant as both has such poor special that even resistance doesn’t help much. And both being weak to max airstream is the general concern anyways. In single battle Single Strike Urishfu is just straight up banned in Smogon. Wicked blow deals more damage then surging strike and the only thing that resists single strikes dark/fighting combo is fairy. It was so overwhelming in singles that it was sent to play with legendary Pokemon lol. When the two where first introduced, everyone initially thought that rapid strike was better because we only looked at the 4x weakness to fairy but we ignored everything else lol.
@Bublo ZX ok but 4x fairy type weakness doesn’t help it at all
@Bublo ZX also the fact that this is not single or double battles, it is a battle royale
@Bublo ZX That and the fact that you can’t Protect against it thanks to its ability of ignoring protection moves. An 80 BP STAB move that always crits, has no type immunity and is Protect-proof. Ridiculous
@Snagrio Snorlax just has way too much health for anyone to one shot.
@Bublo ZX Except RS can let fly many attacks (and thus many active defenses) whilst SS cannot and instead hyperfocuses a single target to take them down in said one blow, and thus is easily blindsided by attacks coming from elsewhere.
Hey lockstin in the smogon meta game single strike was vastly superior to rapid due to it having the ability to hit almost anything with it’s fighting or dark stab (both of which are good offensive typings) to the point that it got banned from over used unlike rapid strike. Just kinda throwing that out there
I mean, i still used gmax hatterene or just hatterene in general to just put down the oversized dark taiquando bear XD
@Charlie Phoenix that is the worst spelling of taekwondo I’ve ever seen
Single Strike was also better in VGC, so I’m not sure what he’s talking about.
I mean by that logic lapris would have lost cause nobody used it
Gmaxes weren’t allowed allowed in the smogon meta game though. This is mostly based on cards and VGC. I would say urshifu should win but aurora veil probably would lead to lapras winning. Urshifu’s ability doesn’t bypass aurora veil anyways in game. Also urshifu’s spdef is trash, in a 1v1 with gigantimax I would say lapras almost always wins, it could veil, it could just max lighting twice, there are a ton of options for it. I think with how evenly matched it is, I would say lapras wins bc of the battle royale logic.
If it was 1v1 no gigantimax, urshifu wins for sure. That BP reduction of max knuckle HURTS lol.
I find it so funny and sad that Garbodor realized that it had nobody who loves it and committed not live via Gengar. We need justice for our stinky boy 🙁
@TheKingsPride Oh……..
He will always have Oleana…that’s about it.
@Anthony Rios the passive way of saying it makes it oddly funny even though no one is claiming suicide is a joke in actuality
@Anthony Rios TikTok has taken to banning certain phrases, so people have been switching up their language to please the algorithm. It’s started a trend. Casual Geographic is a good example of this phenomenon that you can find on Youtube. Man has dozens of euphemisms for every crime on Earth.
He’s also actually fun to watch, which is a plus.
@Red Dragon Like Kidnapping being “Surprise Adoption”.
Like all the others, this was REALLY fun to work on! 😀
It was fun to watch! Y’all’s collab series are my favorite of the TerminalMontage show!
What happens to the Megas, there was that frame from the Mega Royale, but not the Megas. Did Eternatus just… BEGONE, or…
Oh it was fun to watch as well!
I just realized you could have done a giant jiggly puff like in the first season of Pokémon where that reoccurring jiggly puff that put people to sleep kept showing up to draw on peoples face when they fall asleep during they’re performance.
@mimicool boy the one at the end?
to be fair, saying “what killed the dinosaurs? the ice age” is much cooler (pun intended) than saying they got crushed by a giant space rock, got carbon monoxide poisoning or starved
Not gonna lie, “What killed the dinosaurs? THE ICE AGE” Before dropping a planets worth of ice on someone was amazing. Well done
