Here’s why it’s propaganda. The Guardian article headline said 6500, then later clarified in the article that only 37 were estimated to be linked to the world cup construction. So, in fact, not only was it a bait headline, it shows your lack of sincerity and naivety not to read everything.
Moreover, where was this same outrage for Brazil 2014 where many were displaced for stadium building. Argentina ’78 under a dictatorship. USA 2026, will be boycotted for its current and ongoing war crimes, right? No, of course, not. FIFA is a global tournament, which involves people with all different types of morals, so there is always some moral criticism that could be levelled at world cup host countries- FIFA should entirely abstain from politics (like it claims, but doesn’t – ie supporting Ukraine, then not allowing Palestinian flags) and focus on logistics only.
It only took about 10k migrant lives to make this event possible!
