DUNE: PART TWO
The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).
“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.
“Dune: Part Two” was filmed on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy. The film is slated for a November 3, 2023 worldwide release from Warner Bros. Pictures.
“The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it.” One of the most powerful lines in the book. Glad to hear it!
Reminds me of the line from Schindlers List “Power is when we have every justification to kill but we don’t”
Master Oogway: Control is an illusion. 🐢
Except that it is this very line that humanity thinks gives it licence to destroy.
Powerful yet too simple, what if both opposing parties have control over a thing, is each control still absolute? The truest power is to have control over your vector of intent, then you cannot lose for you have already won.
We’re Moon Child, we have absolute control over things.
I’m really happy to see not just how faithful it is shaping up to be in comparison to the book, but alos how Denis is bringing to life key little moments, like the way Feyd tries to shove the knife into paul and the way he stands sideways in combat because of how accustomed Feyd is to fighting with a shield… these are little things that to any other director would’ve been trivial, but Denis cares.
I get the feeling he’s read this series multiple times over lol
Did Dennis care enough to include Saint Alia?
@lordcrunkI cannot wait to see Alia. Hope we get Messiah after this.
@lordcrunk most likely, but she would be a 3 year old actress with too much exposure if shown in the trailer
@Brad He’s a massive fan of the books.
This is what I miss from cinema, artistry, grandeur, proper story telling. Simply incredible
Hold on! Have you watched any Christopher Nolan movie?
@Joana H.he said proper storytelling
@Pollo_no_Venlo _literally nothing happened in the first dune lmao
This looks boring lol, just some people around in the desert, yawn.
@Pollo_no_Venlo _ the dark knight
The shot of Gurney walking with whom im assuming are the last surviving fighters of House Atreides in full armor and swords drawn gave me so much chills. I cant wait to see this film.
I can’t wait. I’m definitely going to watch this one in theaters. I’ve always loved Sci-Fi, and after reading the first Dune book I’m even more excited. Hopefully, they keep going through the entire series.
‘Because all my visions lead to horror.’ ‘Why? Because you lose control?’ ‘No because I gain it.’ Not a quote from the book, but a perfect encapsulation of the entire epic story.
Only if they include Messiah, at the least. Dune isn’t really a complete story without what happens after Paul becomes emperor.
@David MillerDenis is already set on making Messiah! Good chance on WB green lighting it too
@ElmecoDune Messiah will only be greenlit if Dune Part 2 is a success. Let’s just hope audiences go out to see this
@ElmecoDID DENIS REALLY SAY THAT?
@Elmeco seriously? source pls!
*They pulled lines directly from the book, specifically Stilgar saying to Paul, “keep it simple, nothing fancy.*
*We know you are brave.” Im so pumped, Denis is a true fan of this world/lore.*
Well, a true fan wouldn’t have turned a white guy into a black female now would he? Looks like this movie is also going all guuurrl power too, not in the book.
really knew his lore when Fremen were unsheathing Crysknifes and not drawing blood
@GM who cares, hollywood has been doing that for years now and the other stuff is still cool
@GM cmon now does it matter the story….. enjoy the damn masterpeice
If Paul really is using the voice on the Fremen at the end of the trailer then we’re in for the adaptation of a lifetime.
*Hans Zimmer knows how to make the audiences feel connected to the movie.*
The score gave me goosebumps! Always a treat to see Hans Zimmer as part of the production.

Absolutely perfect!
this comment: Perfection
When did movie trailers start showing way too much of the movie?
@ash8298 well I’ve spent a fair amount of time under a rock myself but I’d say atleast the past 20 years or so.
Mamoa and that Liet Kynes chick weren’t great casting, but they aren’t in this one, so I guess you’re correct. lol
