It should only be legal if the main character isn’t playing. Otherwise everyone else will lose.

  2. Just Some Guy without a Mustache says:

To be fair, The Squid Game can only be “illegal”, if you’re caught.

  3. king of games and anime says:

The contracts weren’t about legality, it was about the game runners establishing dominance and the players willingly relinquishing agency.

    • Egusi Soup says:

Yeah, and I have a sneaking suspicion that signing a contract does NOT allow you to commit murder… could be wrong though

    • jesus the artist🖌 says:

I think the players were more eager than just signing for fun.Its more like they are playing death run except there is only one winner

    • Christina Millikin says:

Notice how “the Korean games are the best one” (something like that, please correct me if wrong) doesn’t specify which Korea?
We assume South Korea since the outside world we see is South Korea and we generally just reference South Korea as Korea.

    • Jess says:

@Christina Millikin I mean, player 067’s whole plot was about how they were tryna bring their parents over to South Korea. And during the game the alpha male dude was insulting her by saying things such as “oh look at this North Korean” etc. So if it was in South Korea you’d assume that someone would be like “bro?? I’m North Korean too”

“Who would have suspected that they’d be transported off to a remote island in the middle of nowhere and be forced to contend with a sniper-powered motion detector? No 001.”

    Matpat: “Is Squid Game legal?”
Me:If anything is owned by rich billionaires, then it’s legal

  6. Robert Morson says:

“Loser is the one who dies.” I dunno, I’d claim that everyone involved is a loser.

  7. jamaisvu.remedy says:

keep in mind that Gihun DID try and alert the authorities when he first came back after the players voted to stop the games and the authorities thought he was crazy. there’s also the scene with the other VIPs saying “the ones in Korean are the best,” implying that these games happen around the world (especially since the other VIPs are also from other countries).

    • Mimi Stardust says:

I had a sneaking suspicion that the cops were in on it too..

    • Larry R says:

Another thing that didn’t help was that the organization behind the games changed the number on the business cards that were handed out to the players. These guys really don’t want to get caught, especially since one of their main sources of revenue is harvesting organs of deceased “players”.

    • Peaceful Potato says:

@Larry R Actually, the organ thing was not from the game organizers but from corrupt guards who did it behind their backs

    • NotRed says:

      @Mimi Stardust A FILM THEORY

  8. Annie Barker says:

The effort put into the research, production & teaching for your channels genuinely blows me away. I feel like I learn so much from these videos (law fascinates me), and you guys are so dedicated! Thank you so much for all of your hard work Team Theorist, it’s endlessly appreciated. <3

    • Kevin G. says:

The more impressive effort is the blinders put on in this video in regards to omittance of China in this discussion. They have literally built up artificial islands in foreign sovereign waters, have concentration camps, modern slavery, actively keep Taiwan from being recognized & joining international organizations, and so much more. To not mention CCP controlled China who is the biggest human rights abuser of all, but to focus on North Korea on human rights abuses instead had to be purposeful. With the large push for their merch (which is almost guaranteed to be made in China) this glaring omission probably has something to do with that it could effect their pocket books. But hey, that’s just a theory! A YouTube comment theory!

    • oksomy nameisjeff says:

@Kevin G. its not a theory but a fact. If China were not to lie about Tianmen Massacre, it can be said about “human rights” for them.

  9. Tijana Jesse says:

Hey just a shout out to the theory wear. I bought the original sweater you guys made for the first-ever merch drop. I wear it all the time, and it is STILL in fantastic condition. Like, a single snap broke and that’s it. No rips, no fade, nothing. Your merch is legitimately some of the highest quality clothing I own.

  10. Neonex jpxfrd says:

“Has anyone actually stopped and asked the question, could squid game be legal?” Actually yeah! My US history teacher was teaching us about libertarianism and used squid game as an example and showed clips and everything, then he asked us about our thoughts on if squid game should be legal or not.

    • Neonex jpxfrd says:

      @Arsh Ardavan yes it’s a chill class

    • The forgotten penguin says:

Bruh how is ur US history teacher so good

    • Jim lord says:

@Neonex jpxfrdHe clearly isn’t a good teacher or arguing in bad faith because this is not basic libertarianism this is the most extream potition you can go,It’s like saying that liberalism is basicly full on anarchism and showing your students clips from the purge (without the context of why the purge happens )

    • Neonex jpxfrd says:

@Jim lord nah he was expressing the idea of consent in away that relates to us and asking our opinions on stuff like should the government have stepped in when they were playing ddajki
