Whoever gets that free factory in the future, I wish the best of luck to them. There may even be a good chance that they will win because they listened to MatPat’s advice here.

  2. Zah - Brawl Stars says:

MatPat’s personality is something you can’t find in anyone else

  3. Nelson Thompson says:

My first thought would be to do what most Canadian companies do and just have them answer a skill testing question, usually in the form of a basic BEDMAS question to claim the prize.

I actually remember this story on Reddit that goes like this.

There was this guy on a university campas that made a panini cart and was selling paninis for around $3, the faculty said that he had to take down his business because you weren’t allowed to sell food on campas, the very next day he was out with his cart now saying he sold paper towels, one square for $3 and with every purchase you get a free panini.

As long as there’s a no-price option listed in the contest rules, there’s no problem. McDonald’s does that all the time with their Monopoly game.

I volunteer at a charity shop in England and we are having an Easter raffle. When the manager was telling us about it, they told us to make sure we stapled a piece of paper with information on it for legal purposes. No one bought any tickets while I was on the till though, so I didn’t get to see what was on the paper.

Time to send letters for the first time in like 5 years…

  8. Brent Dreher says:

Honestly thought this was gonna be about the legality of Wonka’s whole giveaway. I have….suspicions.

    • Wiz Rad says:

I think that was more or less part of the premise of the video he referred to in this video. It’s over on Film Theory.

  9. blahthebiste says:

“A few hours of your time”
    “Next to zero cost”
    Time IS money, Matpat.

    • John Carle says:

Still technically “no purchase” necessary because you aren’t paying Beast. You’re paying the Post Office

    • Chbani youssef says:

@Dee Doubs 50 bars of chocolate is 150

    • Dee Doubs says:

Plus fifty stamps is like… 30 dollars.

    • EndroEndro says:

@Chbani youssef if you send from my country over the ocean to usa you will pay for that per letter like for gold, but at least there is option like that. i wonder if there is someone not famous who won that way (i would guess that 99% they will throw it to the trash)

    • Chbani youssef says:

I didn’t factor inthe price of the stuff you need for the letters since it’s only a few cents per letter

  10. Nothing says:

Mr Beast: Sends Matpat a package
Matpat: Makes a video on how to avoid buying from Mr Beast
    Mr Beast: *regrets his decision*
