Fate help me, Jason Charles Miller’s theme being made with an epic symphony sounds incredible.

    • Michael Kemmet says:

Credit where credit is due: the theme is by Neal Acree, not JCM. There are nods to Jason Charles Miller’s campaign 1 intro, and Sam, Laura & Ashley’s campaign 2 intro, but the music here is Neal’s. The nods to JCM are mostly in the underlying percussive accompaniment. It’s not the same rhythm as JCM’s, but it gives a similar feel.

The campaign 2 nod is in the melody in a couple places, which is mostly the “they were always beside you” musical phrase from Your Turn to Roll in a minor key(I think) with the ending of the phrase altered to go up a third or a fourth instead of a second where you would normally hear “be-SIDE you”. (I was only a B-/C+ student in my college ear training classes and I don’t have a piano handy, so my intervals are probably off, but should be in the ballpark.)

Other than the partial melodic statements of the YTTR theme at 0:03 & 0:22, the slightly more complete one at 0:45, and the occasional percussive accompaniment, the rest is all Neal Acree. (with some possible help from orchestrator Nolan Markey – Nolan did some of the orchestrations for TLOVM, I just don’t know for certain if he orchestrated the main title.)

I am almost 49 years old…. and I feel like a little school boy, crying nerd tears and feeling all the goosebumps watching this. I. Can’t. Wait.

  5. A Gilbert says:

Gods this is incredible. Can absolutely see the anime influences they talked about in the panel. Absolutely stunning, I am so hyped!

  6. MaverickAttacks says:

LET’S GO!! Go back and watch the early episodes of campaign 1 in the G&S room, with gummed up audio, blurred out character intro intermissions, fan gifts, producers in unicorn outfits, etc…. Amazing how far they’ve come.

right? Remember when you random fans would like buy them pizza during break?

    • Jason Kossowan says:

God I miss those days. SnuggleLord did good.
Critmas was so charming until it got to be.. so much.

    • MilSF1 says:

When they were clapping for each new subscriber? It was raw, that’s for sure. But you gotta love the production quality now that this is a major focus, rather than just a Thursday night game.

    • Erik Groen says:

My favorite will always be when they sold out of their shirts before they’d even finished announcing that they had shirts. <3 <3 <3

    • Neis OvO says:

I mean, several years ago, there was a moment when I though, should I watch this? and in the comments a saw a phrase… a phrase that has bring me here today, a kickstarter later, 2 campaigns, many one shoots and tears in my eyes from seeing an animated opening… that phrase was “I´ve got an intelligence of 6, I know what I´m doing”

  7. H Hylobates says:

A challenge from twitter: “If you watch one episode of Critical Role Campaign 1 a day, and all of the C1 one shots, you’ll finish in 119 days, which is Feb. 4, 2022”

  8. Ashton Bailey says:

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen animation of a younger version of Liam’s character standing before flames in a tragic moment, well I’d have two nickels. But it’s weird that it happened twice.

    • Ashton Bailey says:

@S. Lovecraft They are highly dependent on what kind of character we see from Liam on Oct 21st! But if past track record means anything odds are looking good.

    • Jason Kossowan says:

My brain went straight to Caleb PTSD in that one.

    • Максим Бугаенко says:

Tragic backstory and Liam are coming in a package. ALWAYS

    • Critical Lol says:

C’mon down to Caleb’s Family BBQ! We got burnt ends! Meat with that perfect char! Fun for the whole family! Our BBQ is to die for! Yeeeeehawwww! 🔥🤠🔥

    • E-Man5805 says:

I think thr next flame moment will be a moment of triumph. Like a character who is born in flame. Like a fire genasi rogue or something.
