The reason Alcaraz won — and I’m glad he did -is because he played Djokovic without fear. He played Djoker the same way be played Medvedev and all those players he beat to get into the final. This is a big deal, because a lot of players come into a match with Nole already resigned to defeat (see Rublev and Ruud), so the mental component is missing from the start. But Alcaraz knew he could beat Novak and he played like he believed it!

    • Anvesh C says:

Thats basically not as easy as we think. They train for that mentality to kick-in when necessary and firmly believe it!

Don’t forget mate Carlos Alcaraz also beat Novak Djokovic at the 2022 Clay Madrid Masters as well buddy putting his head to head at win at 2-1 against Novak Djokovic lol.
And with the 2023 Wimbledon’s Trophy 🏆 Carlos Alcaraz is now the World Number 1 Goat in 2023 Facts 😁🇪🇦

    • Bosko Filipovic says:

@HuuTonyTran greatest of all time in 2023?

    • ☆StarLord☆ says:

@Bosko Filipovic Yes because Carlos Alcaraz is the youngest player who happens to be a Clay Court Player first in history to beat Novak Djokovic in a Wimbledon’s Finals on Grass Court which Novak happens to be the king of grass with 8 Wimbledon Trophy’s BUT not anymore mate thats why Carlos Alcaraz is now Rank World Number 1 while your poor friend Novak Djokovic isn’t buddy haha get good scrub 🤣😂🤦‍♂️🇪🇦

    • Bosko Filipovic says:

@☆StarLord☆ the point of the comment is to think about your thoughts…your grammar skills are questionable. Goat in 2023.? That’s paradox

  2. InvisibleSoul says:

If it wasn’t already obvious to everyone, there is literally zero doubt Alcaraz has everything it takes and more to be an all-time great.

    • Ex Posey says:

And refreshingly he has mental strength and mind-set of a champion.

    • Trips says:

And most importantly, besides Novak right now, he has no competition.
The big three had eachother. Alcaraz will glide through the grand slams when Novak retires.

    • Daniel Stevens says:

@trips347 I hope Sinner becomes an all time great too, it’ll be boring if it’s only alcaraz at the top

    • nonody says:

@Trips Djoker is having free pass for the last 5-6 years. No competition from young generation players. And he stat padded a lot in his post prime.

    • Il sorriso di Rafa Leao says:

@nonodyThere is no way he will keep this sort of exhausting game in 5-6 years, he would be 41 so it’s impossible. Maybe he has another year or at the very maxium 2 years at good levels. And Carlitos it’s still very young.

  3. ankit pandya says:

That second set tiebreaker was game changer, Djokovic losing tiebreaker in GS final is rarest phenomenon.

    • Gerard Martin says:

Djokovic was 3-0 up in that tiebreaker 👍

    • Pacifist says:

I think the game changer was the fifth set when Djokovic won the first game and had a break point but couldn’t convert it because he lost a very easy overhead. Could have been 2-0 lead in the fifth set instead of a 1-1, and then 3-0 because Djokovic served the next game, but it never happened because Djokovic lost on his serve to make it to 1-3 instead (3-1 in favor of Alcaraz) because Djokovic was upset at himself for missing such an easy shot and Alcaraz started to play better. That was definitely the game changer. That game will definitely haunt Djokovic. Hopefully he can regroup himself and win the US Open title to make it to 24 then. But Alcaraz is playing really well and moving incredibly well. It will be hard to stop him, he is definitely the future of tennis.

    • ankit pandya says:

@Pacifist Yeah that was this match turning point but winning that second set give him belief and broke that invincible aura surrounding Djoko on center court.
Also 2 set down is game over against Djokovic

    • Jacob Schmidt says:

That pretty much summed up the match. Had Djokovic won the second tiebreak or broke in the second game of the 5th set, he likely wins the match. Tennis is indeed a game of small margins when two great players battle. Congrats to Carlos for being the better player and winning his first Wimbledon title.

    • Golf Fanatic says:

@Jacob Schmidt I’d dare say that fifth game of the third set, which saw 32 points played out was huge for Carlos. That gave him 2 break points and paved the way to win the set 6-1. Stats showed he ran 718 meters in that game alone.

  4. Apoorv Kumar says:

First time in 20 years, someone else from Djokovic, Federer, nadal and murray have clinched the title, take a bow, next superstar ❤

  5. John Iii says:

Carlos is showing us consistently he’s the real deal and not just hype. Well done. He’s tracking already to become one the GOATS himself if he can keep it up and stay healthy

  6. J. J. Thompson says:

I honestly didn’t think it possible but I was so so wrong. Unbelievable. So happy for him and his team!!!

    • Paul y says:

It must be exciting for Alcaraz. That’s his first Wimbledon Championship. As much as I didn’t like seeing Djokovic lose, I was happy for Carlos. He seems like a really nice guy.

    • news buster says:

@Paul y Didnt he play last year too? Losing to Sinner.

    • John Mack says:

@news busterHe was much worse last year .

    • NickEvershedMusic says:

      @Paul yhe seems too cocky

    • ☆StarLord☆ says:

And with the 2023 Wimbledon’s Trophy 🏆 Carlos Alcaraz is now the World Number 1 Goat Facts buddy.
US Open is just around the corner and I already know Carlos Alcaraz is going to win it 💯👍.

  7. Gamiño Ramírez Roberto says:

Felicitaciones para Alcaraz. Si las lesiones lo respetan, probablemente tendrá un gran desempeño con el paso del tiempo. De un fan del GOAT.

  8. Callum Kaye says:

The mental fortitude alcatraz has at 20 is next level … scintillating performance after a wayward first set
    Hats off Carlos 👏

  9. Maria Sharapova says:

Beating Novak with that much class on grass is unbelievable at this age…. Still what a pity his body wouldn’t let him play in Paris!!!

  10. theREealslimshady says:

The mental strength Alcaraz had today at 20 years of age is something I have never ever seen. To win against Novak on a court he hasn’t lost the last 46 matches in that fashion in a fifth set is crazy🤯
