I think the reason behind the constant comparison of M1 and M3 is that the M1 computers are still so good that people may not otherwise upgrade.

I hope the reason they aren’t releasing a USB C keyboard, mouse, and trackpad, is that they are redesigning the Magic Mouse. It would make sense to keep both bundled accessories using the same port, so I expect they will not stagger the release of them. The Magic Mouse at least needs a new charging port location, but a change to its ergonomics would also be welcome.

Great points. I feel similar. I also think the Magic Mouse is too small
The accessories need the upgrade & Apple has to know it

    • Domantas Bronušas says:

Yeah i wish new apple mouse. Waiting patiently. They should inceese back bump and make it like simple mouse but with those unique touch conttols

    • Rob Ster says:

Calling it now, Apple has partnered with some big name PC mouse company to make a redesigned magic mouse. I wouldn’t be surprised if they partnered with Logitech for stuff like this.

They had more than a decade to learn what works for the industry, and I hope they took notes from MX Master product line.

Magic mouse was a Steve jobs era product, and tbh good riddance.

Alternatively, Apple might go the wireless route and have mouse controls similar to their VR setup.

    • Domantas Bronušas says:

@Rob Ster but mx master is too heavy and thick so if they do its something in between. Probably it will be quite nice

    • ib0o0 says:

@Domantas Bronušas it’s heavy and thick but comfortable. I believe they’ve lost most of their target audience to Logi. All the engineers, PM’s and designers I work with have a Logi. None have the Magic Mouse anymore.

Good luck in the match! I’m one of the M1 Max MBP users and while I’m probably in their use case as I do a lot of ML and Software Dev – I think I’m going to wait. The Space Black is an intriguing color, but between fingerprints and the inevitable scratches – I don’t know if I can do that color. In your review (or when you talk to Apple), ask them about scratch resistance. A silver MBP hides all the small nicks and scratches very well.

      Silver 16“ M1 Max user here too💪

  4. Michael 0788 says:

M1 is sooooo good I don’t see myself upgrading for another 3-4 years. It has aged so well and it would take more than just a color to upgrade.

    • Tony Talks says:

I feel similarly. My M1 MacBook Air is still chugging along very nicely. I wouldn’t consider an upgrade until at least the M5.

  5. Lundin Matthews says:

The upgrade is really a push for those of us late adopters who are still on the last generation of intel based Mac’s. It’s finally time, I ordered an M3 Max last night.

  6. Scott McKenna says:

Congrats on your team USA Roster addition. You’re the man. Incredibly inspiring to see your journey.

Would be interesting to see an M1 Max compared to a standard M3

    • Seema Pratap / सीमा प्रताप says:

      m3 would get dunked on

    • Mushi Gang says:

I was thinking the same thing during the event… M1 Max would still probably beat regular M3

    • DiverMan says:

M1 max would destroy it. The more interesting comparison is M1 max (32 core) vs M3 pro and M3 max (30 core)

    • Brandon Tahedl says:

M1 Max would probably beat it, 24/32GPU cores versus the 10 new ones? I think just raw core-count will topple it.

    • Adam Olympia says:

@DiverMan My guess is that the standard M3 would dunk on the M1 Max for GPU tasks (games) and single core workloads. Multi core workloads = no question. M1 Max would rule the roost.

  8. Nick Pagan says:

I think they understand that it might take 2 gens before people are upgrading. Same w/ phones. Things never sound like major upgrades if you have the most up to date thing, but if you’re a couple gens behind, they might become interesting.

  9. Overly Pragmatic says:

When they decided on matte black for the M3 line, they definitely had you in mind! I can’t count how many time you’ve asked for matte black

  10. Utkarsh Singh says:

Marques had me smiling when he said “Amazing Production”
I can only imagine what wonders the MKBHD team would do if they were the guys behind the next Apple Keynote. 🤯

PS: Thanks for this update. You are an absolute treat to watch Marques 🖤
