From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.

i mean this is basically based off the musical, but yeah nothing can’t beat the OG Mean girls movie from 2004
Exactly
The musical was so toned down and soulless… They don’t even use a curse word or keep any of the humorous raunchy stuff and it felt super politicized I can’t imagine the influence being too strong here
It’s like the original Hairspray compared to the Musical Hairspray.
Agreed!!!
I’m surprised the trailer doesn’t feature any aspect of this being a musical, since u know, that’s the main difference in this version
Right. It doesn’t even look that different from the film. Like a trailer for a tv series rather than a musical reimagining
I’m kinda glad they did that. Maybe they want to keep the new take on the songs a surprise.
I haven’t heard much of the songs from the show so it could be nice that I can be surprised by the songs while watching the movie
@CartoonishClaude which is fair, but many people may think they r trying to make a carbon copy remake and write off the film which sucks
Can’t anyone ever market a movie musical correctly these days
I can’t wait to do a Mean Girls Christmas Dance Tutorial. Haha. ♥️
❤️🔥❤️🔥
Honestly want to see more films based on Broadway adaptations, I missed out on the Beetlejuice musical and would definitely love to see that turned into a film.
It’s touring! I’m going next year 😍 but I also want a movie!
Why you just watch the original 1988 Beetlejuice movie. It’s a classic movie and I’m sure it’s a lot better than the musical.
Yep.
@MrX13the musical is actually generally considered to be better!
@MrX13because we like the new music of the beetlejuice musical? i don’t know if a film adaptation would do it justice since the ensemble and the set design really made the show pop, but a pro-shot would be incredible and could stand on its own merit.
Kind of disappointed they didn’t showcase the musical part of this movie on the trailer. I mean it’s literally a musical adaptation of Mean Girls, right?
If they did this correctly I would be hyped
I mean there is a music note in the title so that shows its going to be a musical 🤷
Maybe they’re saving it as a surprise so that they don’t spoil it in the actual movie?
@Taylor Swift Sr. not everyone can read that
Me too. They included some in the teaser so I was hoping for more.
For those of you who don’t know, this is not a remake of the original movie. Rather, it is an adaptation of the broadway musical based on the original 2004 movie, in a similar vain to the Matilda The Musical movie or the new The Color Purple.
Ok but answer the more pertinent question, who TF wants this?
@Eric Worwa Lots of people do, especially fans of the Broadway musical. I’m sure there’s plenty of it 🤷
I haven’t seen the musical but as a musical movie fan myself, I’m definitely interested to see this. Who knows there could be more songs for my playlist 🤷
@Eric Worwaapparently the thing has a fan base if it’s getting made. Regardless, no one is being forced to watch this
They didn’t show that in the trailer at all. I’m very familiar with the musical. They didn’t show any of them singing any of the songs from the show. Or anything showing it’s a musical.
I love how they kept the teachers and staff the same! Oh this is everything! I’m going to have way too much fun with this!
As far as I can tell, the only person they’ve kept is Tina fey, which makes sense as she also wrote the original film.
Ansioso demais para ver esse filme! 💖 😍
For a musical adaptation you would think there would me, you know, more musical adapting…
Even the song in this trailer is not even a song from the musical.
Doesn’t anyone know who to market the movie musical genre anymore?
it’s a trailer. y’all are so goofy
@tyler alexanderYou’re, like, supposed to let the audience know it’s a musical. The trailer seems to be purposefully trying to hide that for some reason which is a… let’s go with “strange choice”.
@Erik MontalvoI mean, if you can’t tell that a movie with “dance breaks,” in it is a musical, that’s not really their fault
If I wanted to watch mean girls again, I would just watch mean girls . It still holds up
