  5. Brams Rockhopper says:

When William said ‘Pa…’ it reminded me of how Charles always referred to the Queen as ‘mummy’ amid chuckles… A lovely moment.
Also reminded me of my own father I lost almost 2 years ago. I called him ‘Pa’ because that’s what he’d called his father… Nice to hear it still being used.

    • Stephanie says:

@Sylvia Roberts We are talking about the Royal Family who do not normally express personal words of endearment in public.
I also enjoyed William’s speech very much and his personal term of endearment to his father.

    • Sylvia Roberts says:

@Luisa What a very silly remark. A person can call their parents whatever affectionate name they like. I used to call my mother “Ma” – with or without your permission.

    • Luisa says:

How strange that 95% of British people don’t speak like them and you admire that. It shame they are so different to their own nation.

  6. Dianne Spalding says:

So glad to see how much King Charles enjoyed his Coronation. He looked relaxed and smiled through everything except the most solemn moments. Loved how he didn’t seem to want to leave the balcony and kept looking back. Very worth getting up at 5 am to watch it live!

  7. Older Wiser says:

As an American, I’m always so impressed by the Prince of Wales. He’s had some real tragedy in his life, grown up in a fish bowl, a child of a contentious divorce, lost his mother at 15 in a terrible accident, and had his privacy invaded again and again. And yet he has not only gotten on with it, he used his training to fly helicopters for Search & Rescue missions, and doubtless saved countless lives. He epitomizes someone who counts his blessings and not his burdens. He continues to serve. The UK is so lucky to have him & his lovely wife and children. God Save the King!

    • praktyknlp says:

@eca eas What are you on about? Your judging others by the amount of accumulated wealth only reminds me of Marks’ and Engels’ philosophies quite frankly. I believe most of us look to PEOPLE’S ACTIONS to formulate opinions about them.

Having come from a country where all offices are elected I find your attitude utopian rather than realistic. In most countries with a democratic system elected officials are failing to uphold the values and promises to their constituencies and are in politics for power and personal gain. Moreovere, in order to get into politics they must have considereable personal wealth to start with or support of people with such. Thus the continuous attempts to provide adequate checks and balance. The RF provides this to some extent as well. In addition to other aspects of their service.

You may be right that the discussion about the role of the monarchy needs to continue but I find YOUR APPROACH VERY LIMITING rather than opening avenues for thought and ideas for the future.

In regard to this particular speech and the events surrounding the coronation many of us here want to celebrate and get inspiration. If we want to defer and revere the RF that is our right 😊

  8. Alex Nadler says:

Whether you’re a monarchist or not, nobody can deny that Prince William is an absolute gentleman and will one day, be a true leader
